About Corsodyl 1% Gel
Corsodyl 1% gel helps you target problem areas in your mouth directly and effectively. It is an intensive treatment that is formulated to help treat serious, persistent or worsening gum problems, such as red, swollen and bleeding gums.
It is clinically proven to help put a stop to the first stage of gum disease, gingivitis. If left untreated, this can progress to the irreversible second stage of gum disease periodontitis, which can lead to tooth loss.
Corsodyl 1% gel can be used as a short term, intensive care product for more serious gum disease, to keep your mouth clean and help return your gums to health.
How does Corsodyl 1% gel work?
Corsodyl 1% gel contains 1% chlorhexidine. This highly effective antimicrobial ingredient works by attaching to plaque and killing bacteria within 30 seconds. It then creates a protective shield that repels bacteria for up to 12 hours, helping to prevent further build up.
How to use Corsodyl 1% gel
The first thing to do if you notice a sign of gum disease is to talk to your dentist who can advise you on the best treatment options. Your dentist may recommend using Corsodyl gel as a short term way to treat gum problems, usually for two to four weeks.
Cautions
Use as directed on the product label.
Corsodyl 1% gel may cause temporary discolouration of the teeth or tongue. This can be removed by twice daily brushing with toothpaste or by your dentist or hygienist. You can reduce the risk of staining by avoiding drinking tea, coffee or red wine, especially up to one hour after use.
